European Driving Holiday in the Swiss Alps

Our driving holiday in Switzerland takes you on a journey through the heart of the Swiss Alps.  See below for full day by day itinerary for this break.

Day 1 - Arrive Zurich

Arrive at Zurich and check into the 4 Star B2 Boutique Spa Hotel in Zurich's trendy lakeside district.   Later, spend the afternoon exploring the cafes and boutiques of Zurich's old town, or take a stroll along the world`s famous shopping street Bahnhofstrasse.

Spend an evening in the city, take in a show, visit one of the coolest clubs in Zurich with VIP entry, or spend a more relaxed and romantic evening at the latest must dine location, the Terrasse Restaurant and Lounge Bar.

Day 2 - First Drive into the Central Swiss Alps / visit Piz Gloria

Car delivered to hotel and detailed walkthrough of controls etc.

Drive to your base hotel, the Aspen Alpine Lifestyle, set in the heart of the central Swiss Alps. First, take a scenic run along the shores of Lake Lucerne, where you will stop for a coffee at the town of Vitznau. Later head south onto the beautiful Susten Pass carved into the granite like sides of the valley and breathtaking to drive. After a visit to the Stein Glacier, Lunch is taken at the end of the Pass. Now complete your run up to the Aspen Alpina Lifestyle Hotel, set in the heart of the beautiful Grindelwald, with stunning panoramas of the surrounding peaks, this is truely a magical setting, taking late afternoon tea on the hotel`s wonderful terrace with views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 3 - Tour the beautiful Berner Oberland / visit to Gruyers and Gstaad

After breakfast in the hotels terrace, it’s time to set off for your main driving adventure.  Today you wil head into the heart of the stunning Berner Oberland mountain range, this part of the Swiss Alps contains your picture postcard Alpine villages with wooden chalets, cows and bells et al.  You will visits the medieval fortified village of Gruyeres, famous for its cheeses, the village is one of the most well preserved of its kind in the whole of Europe. You will also head across three stunning mountain passes in the regions, including the Jaun Pass, as well as making a late afternoon tea stop at the jet set ski resort of Gstaad.

Day 4 - Return to Zurich via Furka and Grimsel Pass 

Your return journey back to Zurich takes you back into the heart of the central Swiss Alps, where you will head across two of the most spectacular passes in the Alps, the Furka Pass and Grimsel Pass.  You will then head across to the alpine resort of Andermatt (referred to as being in the centre of the centre of the Alps) where you will take lunch.  After lunch, start your return journey back to Zurich tracing the path of the Reuss River down to Lake Luzern.  You then pick up the scenic shores of the lake, heading to Restaurant Seerose for sun down drinks, before completing your tour back to Zurich.

Day 5 - Zurich

Spend a final day in Zurich, explore the old town, take a boat out on the lake, or try some shopping along the world famous Bahnhofstrasse.
