Honeymoon in the Alps - 6 Days

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Zurich

On arrival in Zurich, you will be met by your private limo driver and will be whisked to the center of old town Zurich and the Widder Hotel.  On arrival you touring pack, as well as champagne and flowers await you in your room.  Later, take a stroll along the world famous Bahnhofstrasse blessed with countless luxury and watch outlets, then explore the small cafes and boutique shops hidden in the cobbled streets of the old town.

Spend the evening in the city, either take in a show at the opera house, visit one of the coolest clubs in Zurich with VIP entry, or spend a more relaxed and romantic evening at the hotels Gourmet restaurant.

Day 2 - Drive south through the central Swiss Alps to Grindelwald

Your car is delivered to hotel and we will provide a detailed walk through of the car, plus of course the navigation unit which will have each of your daily drives (including routes and stop points) pre- programmed.

The first drive takes you into the heart of Swiss Alps, a small alpine village of Grindelwald. First, take a pleasant run south skirting the shores of Lake Luzern, where you stop for your morning coffee at the stunning Park Hotel Vitznau, set directly on the Lake Luzern. Then head further south and into Swiss Alps. Drive over the Susten Pass, 2224 meters above the sea level, and take lunch at the top of the pass. The final stretch of the scenic route takes you to Interlaken, situated between lake Thun and Brienz, before you continue to a beautiful glacier village of Grindelwald. In the evening, enjoy the spa and have a romantic dinner at the traditional Swiss style chalet restaurant.

Day 3 - Bernese Oberland and onto Vevey via Gruyeres

The first stop of today`s drive will be in Lauterbrunnen, also known as `Valley of Waterfalls`, with its 72 waterfalls gushing down into the Valley. Over here you`ll visit the Truemmelbach Falls hidden between rocks. Afterwards, continue along the shores of Lake Thun and pick up the Jaun Pass, offering exceptional views of the Alps, lakes and pastures, before heading into a fortified town of Gruyeres famous for its Gruyeres Cheese.  Visit the cheese factory, situated directly in the old town and taste some of the local dishes at a cozy local restaurant. Now in French speaking canton of Switzerland, you will continue to Vevey, a town with exceptional position at the foot of Mont Pelerin and les Pleaiades facing the Savoy Alps, where you will be based for the next two nights at the stunning Grand Hotel Du Lac, set on the Lake Geneva.

Day 4 - Tour of Lake Geneva and the Lavaux Wine Region

After breakfast on the hotel`s terrace, you`ll be on a journey of discovery around the Lavaux wine region, UNESCO designated World Heritage site since 2007. The Lavaux vineyards stretch along the northern shores of Lake Geneva from Lausanne to Chateau de Chillon, with an extensive network of footpaths allowing visitors to ramble through the vineyards while taking in the scenic views of Lake Geneva on the one side and the Alps on the other. You will drive along the Corniche, an idyllic roadway that passes through the winegrowing area, studded with grand houses, vaulted wine cellars, romantic bistros and, everywhere one looks, stunning scenery. The elevated highway winds its way beautifully down to the shores of the lake. 

After lunch, visit the famous Chateau de Chillon, an architectural jewel situated at the foot of the Alps and the shores of the Lake Geneva. Afterwards, drive south to the town of Aigle, one of the leading wine producing centres in the region. Once at Aigle, you head to the town of Villars-sur Ollon, and over the dramatic Col de la Croix pass, an amazingly twisty and bumpy pass, that almost leaves you laughing when you arrive in Les Diablerets at the foot. 

Arrive back at the hotel, for late afternoon drinks, or maybe a splash in the hotels wonderful indoor pool, with views across the private park that the hotel is set in. Later on, dine at Vevey town centre, a mecca of gourmet starred restaurants.

Day 5 - Return to Zurich via the Emmental (Cheese Route) Valley

The final drive to Zurich takes you north and along the famous `Cheese route` connecting the small towns and villages in Emmental region specializing in cheese production. Lunch will be taken at a traditional Emmental restaurant where you will have the opportunity to taste and stock up on delicious Swiss cheese. Afterwards, head over rugged and isolated Glaubenbielen pass, winding its way up through a lush green meadowland, before the scenery starts to become more Alpine like, with a final ascent into a beautiful forest area. From here, continue north and over the last mountain pass Albis, before arriving in Zurich for your final night.
