Grandhotel Lienz is only fifteen years old and already one of the leading wellness hotels in Europe
At arrival to the hotel you see an amazing large building that looks like a place that has a very long history here. In fact the hotel is no more than 15 years old and the result of two year construction project that started in 2007. They opened their doors to the first guests in May 2009 and the hotel is the only five star hotel within a 100 km radius from the medieval town Lienz. Grandhotel Lienz has been carefully designed with attention to even the smallest details, that you will notice while wandering around the building. From start to finish you enjoy a five star luxurious experience with top-notch customer service, but in a very relaxed atmosphere.
In 2011 Grandhotel Lienz was voted “Europe’s Leading Wellness Hotel” and “World’s Leading Medical/Wellness Spa”. Also three years in a row (2012-2014) the hotel has been voted the winner in the category “World’s Leading Wellness Hotel” in the World Travel Awards.
The rooms are spacious and designed to match the exterior feel of the building. Many of them come with a beautiful river view from the balconies. They have 72 Junior Suites (Superior 38m² and Grand Deluxe 48-52m²), some with separate children rooms, and also four Royal Suites (78m²). The beautiful view over Isel River can also be enjoyed from the sun terrace, the spa area with the indoor and outdoor pool, or from one of the five restaurants in the hotel. One restaurant at Grandhotel Lienz has been awarded 2 toques by the Gault Millau gourmet guide and their restaurant is also ranked #1 of 26 restaurants in Lienz on Tripadvisor.
On a sunny summer morning seated on the terrace with a fresh cappucino and the table filled with tasty treats from their large buffet breakfast we asked ourselves why we were staying here only one night. It is an excellent choice for a one night stop in Lienz, but it is also one of the places that you wish you could stay longer at to fully enjoy everything this hotel and region has to offer.
