Our fleet: Ferrari 458 Speciale

The Ferrari 458 Speciale won the title Evo’s Car of the Year 2014 and for many of our customers it was most certainly their “Car of the Year” as well, according to the feedback we received. This purebred driver’s car from Maranello is a more hardcore version of the 458 Italia, a race car for the road. So challenging to drive that our team struggled a little to multitask using this car on one occasion as a lead car in a convoy, because it demands your full attention. But also so rewarding to drive that not a single driver ever wanted to get out of it. But when they did, they left the car with a huge smile on their face.

We are not finished with the Ferrari 458 Speciale yet. In 2015 it is available for both our group tours as well as individual driving holidays in the Alps and Germany. If you have been waiting for the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one here is your chance to experience it, and even better, test drive it against some other new supercar models. We have carefully selected our favourite roads in the German Black Forest, picked our favourite cars from 2014 as well one new for this season – the Mercedes-AMG GT, and decided to organize a Supercar Test Event with start in Baden-Baden on 29th May.

I am a huge fan of the 458 Speciale, many say that it is just slightly rarer version of a very common supercar (in places like London) but anyone who has had the chance to have been for a drive in one (which I am lucky enough to have experienced) will know that it is a completely different beast.

Lighter, more nimble and an even more brutal kickdown.

I am not surprised this has been picked by Evo as their car of the year. But there is one question I have, is the difference between the 458 Speciale and the 458 worth the extra money? I have driven the Speciale, but have only been a passenger in the 458 on a rather extreme track run, so I could not make the decision for myself from a drivers perspective.
