IWC Swiss Watch Driving Tour - 4 days


Day 1 - Arrive Zurich

On arrival at Zurich airport, transfer directly to Zurich city center, and the beautiful old town where the Widder design hotel is located. On arrival, your welcome pack, which includes the detailed driving itinerary and a luxury guide to Zurich and the shopping districts of Banhofstrasse and the Zurich old town. Head out by foot into the city, wander through the cobbled streets of the old town, past boutiques and cafes and down to Bahnhofstrasse (300M) where all the leading designer brands are located from Louis Vuitton to Prada and Hermes, as well as the exclusive boutiques for many of the leading watch brands in the world, including IWC and AP. That evening dine out in the city  - we can make arrangements to dine at the beautiful Terrasse modern European restaurant, set on the banks of the Limmat river in the old town, it's the perfect place to dine out to sample Zurich's up market night life at its very best.

Day 2 - Tour to IWC factory and into the Black Forest

The following morning your car will be delivered to the hotel, together with a programmed GPS with the drives for the next two days. Our Drive Concierge will then walkthrough the car, GPS and the drive tours themselves, before the first drive is activated on the GPS, and you head on your way.  The first drive takes you north, out of the city and into the rolling countryside to the beautiful town of Stein am Rhine, set directly on the Rhine.  Stop here for morning coffees in one of the most picturesque old towns in Switzerland.  Now continue the tour along the shores of the Rhine, to the town of Schaffhausen, home to IWC.  On arrival at IWC you will be met, and taken on a 2 hour guided tour of the facility - the tour starts with a visit to the museum, which charts this history of the company, as well as showcasing the most iconic watches through.  You will then be guided into the factory, and step through each of the production phases, from the construction of the timepieces through to the calibration and testing. You will also make a brief stop at the restoration / repair workshop for older time pieces.  The visit culminates with the opportunity for a "hands on" review of all of the current watches in the collection.  Visit over, head directly to the spectacular Rhinefalls, the biggest waterfalls in Europe, where lunch can be taken.  After lunch, you will make a scenic half day tour around the Black Forest, including a loop around the glacial lakes of Schluchsee and Titisee. Continue your drive through the forest, picking up the iconic Hochstrasse / Route 500, north to the Triberg Waterfalls - the highest falls in Germany.  For your final drive, you will head directly onto a lovely stretch of "derestricted" German Autobahn, which takes you south and down to the shores of Lake Constance , here you will spend a second evening at the beautiful Riva Hotel, overlooking the lake.

Day 3 - Visit Zeppelin Museum, then tour around Mount Santis and back to Zurich

Today's drive starts by taking the car ferry across Lake Constance (10min) to the northern shores of the lake -  you will then head east along the shores of Lake Constance to the Zeppelin museum, the historic site where these majestic flying machines were built during the war.  After the visit, take the car ferry back across the lake, then head into the beautiful St Gallen Swiss Alps, where you will drive a scenic loop around the beautiful Mount Santis, stopping near the top of the pass for lunch - they views at this point are truely spectacular.   After lunch, you will start your return drive back to Zurich, heading through the rolling countryside then down to the shores of Lake Zurich, stopping briefly at the small town of Stafa, before following lakeside route (western shores) all the way back to the city of Zurich.   That evening we can make arrangements to dine out in Zurich's West Quarter - this used to be the industrial quarter, but now hosts some of the most trendy restaurants and bars in the city, including the beautiful La Saale where we recommend you dine - white tablecloths set in a converted warehouse.

Day 4 - Final Day in Zurich

Final Morning in Zurich / Depart For your final morning, take a stroll along Bahnofstrasse where you can visit the signature stores of some of the leading watch makers in Switzerland, then continue down to Lake Zurich, you can even take a short boat trip down to the medieval town / castle at Rapperswil at the end of the lake

Later transfer back to the airport.
