Tour in Your Own Car - Tour to the South of France
Burgundy, Provence, & Cote d'Azur
A one-week road trip driving tour that takes you through the heart of France, visiting some of the most beautiful regions of this incredibly diverse country, and featuring the very best driving roads to the South of France / Cote d'Azur.
The journey begins in the heart of the Burgundy wine region, in the wine-producing capital, Beaune. You will take a leisurely 5-day road trip to the South of France along carefully-planned scenic driving routes. First, journey south along the Burgundy wine route, to the tip of the Rhone-Alps, visiting wineries along the way. Next, continue through the Rhone-Alps to the gourmet region of Valence. Continue south along the Rhone Valley, then into Provence, crossing Mount Ventoux into the Luberon Valley region - one of the most beautiful parts of this incredible country. Have two down days in Luberon to explore the region before continuing the drive through the heart of the National Park Verdon / Gorge Verdon, along Route Napoleon, then down to the jet-set resort of Cannes, where the tour finishes on the sunny Cote d'Azur.
Tour to the South of France
Day 1 - Arrive in France / Burgundy Region
The start point of this particular tour is the town of Beaune, in the heart of the Burgundy wine region. Here you will find some of the Gran Crux and finest red wines in France in the heart of the Bourgogne vineyard. After your arrival, we recommend a day at leisure in the region to visit some of the wineries nearby. We can assist you with planning your visits to some of the finest Gran Cru wineries in the region.
Overnight Hotel: 5-Star Superior Hostellerie De Levernois, Beaune
Day 2 - Burgundy Wine Route
Follow the Burgundy wine route south, as far as city of Valence, where the famous Maison Pic Hotel restaurant is located – it’s a must-eat destination with its 3 Michelin stars! Burgundy is divided into six appellations which you will journey through. Starting in the north, the Côte de Nuits produces some of the world's finest reds with Grands Crus such as Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée-Conti, La Tache. Next head into the Côte de Beaune, known for both red and white, but the greatest white Burgundies (besides Chablis) are from here. Le Montrachet is considered the greatest white wine produced in France. Finally, the Mâconnais region in the south, produces generally cheaper, yet still excellent, wine made for drinking young, such as Fuisse and Pouilly whites.
NOTE: The Maison Pic has two restaurants, including the legendary 3 Michelin star. If you require a reservation, please let us know at the time of inquiry as trip dates often need to be planned around table availability.

Day 3 - Into Provence / Luberon Valley
Today's drive will take you from the Rhone Valley into the heart of Provence, where you will head directly to the most famous mountain in Provence, and probably the most famous mountain climb in the Tour de France, Mont Ventoux. You'll make the 60 km drive to the summit, and back down, having lunch in the rolling hills of Provence beside a fine vineyard. Next, you will drive a loop of the wonderful Luberon Valley, stopping at the most famous town in Luberon, Gordes, before heading to the beautiful La Coquillade village.
Overnight Hotel: 5-Star Superior La Coquillade
Day 4 - Optional Down Day or Loop of Luberon Valley
On Day 4, you can choose to relax and enjoy the world-class facilities at La Coquillade, indulge in a tasting of their own wines, or spend some time on mountain bikes exploring the surrounding region (the hotel has its own Trek bike center). If you are in the mood for a drive instead, we have also designed a shorter half-day loop of the Luberon region, including a visit to a Nugart producer, and a local winery.
Overnight Hotel: 5-Star Superior La Coquillade
Day 5 - Gorge Verdon & Route Napoleon
Your final drive starts with a run through the sweeping Luberon Valley, east to the edge of the National Parc Verdon and the incredible Lac de Croix. From here, head directly onto the spectacular Gorge Verdon, deeper into the National Park, and up to the small village of Castellane, directly on Route Napoleon for lunch. The final stretch of the drive is one of the best in France, on the incredible Route Napoleon, which you will follow down to the coast and to the seaside resort of Cannes, where the tour ends with a final evening by the sea.
Overnight Hotel: 5-Star Superior Martinez in Cannes
