Day 2 - Drive 1: Black Forest to Zurich
Your tour will officially start the following morning by heading south through the heart of the Black Forest. Enjoy the panorama Hochstrasse / Route 500 as it winds through small ski resorts, around glacial lakes, and across lower mountain passes. After lunch, continue through the Black Forest before crossing the Rhine into Switzerland. Spend that evening in the city of Zurich.
Overnight Hotel: B2 Boutique Hotel Zurich
Day 3 - Drive 2: Alps & Piz Gloria
Head south over three of the most stunning passes in the Alps, then directly to the Schilthorn ice station, Piz Gloria, by taking a scenic cable car ride 2790 m up. Piz Gloria was a hideout for Bond's nemesis Blofeld in On Her Majesties Secret Service. The world's first revolving restaurant offers stunning views across the Alps, set directly opposite the peaks of the Monach, Eiger and Jungfrau masiffs. After lunch, head back down the mountain and to your hotel for the evening. If you’re feeling like James Bond, be sure to order a Vodka Martini on the terrace, shaken not stirred...
Overnight Hotel: Bergwelt Grindelwald
Day 4 - Drive 3: Loop of the Berner Oberland
Your next drive will take you on a beautiful loop of the Berner Oberland mountain regions which includes three amazing mountain passes that offer unrivaled views across the surrounding Swiss Alps. You then head out of the mountains, and up to one of the most picture-postcard towns in Switzerland: Gruyers. Famous for cheeses by the same name, you can take a fondue lunch overlooking the cobbled town square. Then, make a short visit to the castle and the unique Alien Museum - a tribute to the creator of Alien, who came from these parts. The drive then continues out of the mountains, and down to one of the Finest Chocolate Producers, Maison Cailler. Here it is possible to make a short factory tour, or just stock up :). The day is completed with a run along the shores of Lake Geneva, passing by Agile Castle and Chateaux Chillion, where it is possible to visit one or the other, then finish in Geneva itself.
Overnight Hotel: Hotel Bristol
Day 5 - Drive 4: Tour Through the Rhone-Alps
Drive four will take you around Lake Anncey, and into the regional parcs of Chartreuse and Vercors. Here you will drive a series of wonderful sweeping mid-height mountain passes through this often-deserted region of the Rhone-Alps. After lunch, skirt around the edges of the highest peak in the Parc, Mont Aiguille, before continuing south to the city of Valence.
Overnight Hotel: Maison Pic
Day 6 - Drive 5: Mont Ventoux & Luberon Valley
Your fifth drive will take you from the Rhone Valley into Provence, which is known for its beautiful lavender fields that blossom during the summer months. You will head directly to the most famous mountain in Provence, Mont Ventoux, and its accompanying hill climb route used in the Tour de France. After lunch, you'll drive a loop of the wonderful Luberon Valley. This will include an afternoon coffee stop at the most famous town in in the area, Gordes, before finally heading to your spa hotel nearby.
Overnight Hotel: Le Couvent des Minimes
Day 7 - Drive 6: Gorge Verdon & Route Napoleon
Drive 6 starts with an eastward run through Luberon Valley to the edge of the National Parc Verdon. From here, head directly into the spectacular Gorge Verdon. Once you exit the National Parc you will find yourself at the small village of Castellane for lunch. The final stretch of the drive is one of the best in all of France. From Castellane, you are immediately on the incredible Route Napoleon which you will follow south as it sweeps down to the coast. Once the Med is in sight, it's a short drive along the coast to Monte Carlo where today's tour ends.
Overnight Hotel: Fairmont Monte Carlo
Day 8 - Down Day in Monaco
Though Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, this tiny but densely populated location has a lot to offer. From simple and relaxing activities like strolling along the marina, to health-focused options like mountain biking in the surrounding mountains, to partaking in the nightlife at the world-renowned casinos, there's something here for everyone! Also possible is to drive along the coast and visit Eze, Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez and Antibes.
Overnight Hotel: Fairmont Monte Carlo
Day 9 - Drive 7: The Italian Coast
From Monaco, head east and cross the border into Italy. Lunch is just a few minutes drive from the iconic town of Portofino, the namesake of the Ferrari model. Afterwards, be sure to get some Gelato! You'll then make the short drive out on the peninsula to Portofino for some pictures. Then continue southeast along the riviera to Cinque Terre National Park. Your hotel is in Porto Venere on the southern end.
Overnight Hotel: Grand Hotel Porto Venere
Day 10 - Down Day in Cinque Terre
Such a beautiful and unique area deserves at least one whole day to explore. Consisting of 5 unique villages clinging to the cliffs, we recommend visiting all 5 if possible. While vehicle traffic is highly restricted, limited primarily to residents of the towns, there are incredible hiking paths, a breathtaking train ride, and a ferry boat that can help hop you from village to village. Read more about visiting Cinque Terre HERE.
Overnight Hotel: Grand Hotel Porto Venere
Day 11 - Drive 8: Emilia Romagna & the Mille Miglia
This is the turning point of the entire grand tour, as you turn your sights back north towards the Alps. After your R&R day in Cinque Terre on the Med, head north to Parma. After lunch, continue north to Lake Garda for a coffee stop in Desenzano del Garda. From here, it is just 30 minutes up the coast of this magnificent lake to your 5 star hotel set in the hills above. Despite the Porsche theme of your tour, you can optionally add in a diversion to Modena and the “Valley of Supercars” about 1 hr east of Parma. The Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani Museums are all within about 20 minutes of each other. If you would like to do this, we recommend adding a night here in order to have enough time to visit each facility properly.
Overnight Hotel: Lefay Lago di Garda Resort and Spa
Day 12 - Drive 9: Adamello Brento National Park & Valvestino
Today’s drive is short but scenic, which is what you'll want when hopping between two incredible Lefay Resorts. The drive starts with 40 minutes of incredible driving on the Valvestino Pass, heading away from your hotel and Lake Garda. Climb your way up and over the pass and its 24 switchbacks along the stunningly clear Lago di Valvestino, and see views of Lago ahead. Once across, get ready to cruise the western coastline of Lago d I’dro and through quiet alpine towns. Make sure to catch a glimpse of the Napoleonic Rocca D'Anfo Fortress up above the lake, or take a tour if you have the time. Now you will be entering Adamello-Brenta National Park. Named for the two large massifs Adamello and Brenta, this park is known for its waterfalls, alpine lakes, thick forests, winter skiing and incredible hikes.
Overnight Hotel: Lefay Dolomiti Resort and Spa
Day 13 - Drive 10: The Great Dolomite Road
Drive 10 begins by heading to Bolzano via the impressive Mendola Pass. From Bolzano, the Great Dolomites Road begins and your day is filled with spectacular views, and some of the most technical roads we've ever found. For lunch you will even take a cable car up to Seceda Ridge, one of the most iconic Dolomites locations. After conquering passes like Passo Gardena, Passo Valparola, and Passo Falzarego, you'll find yourself in the ritzy ski town of Cortina d'Ampezzo for a well deserved relaxing evening.
Overnight Hotel: Rosapetra Spa Resort
Day 14 - Drive 11: The Grossglockner Pass
Exiting Cortina in the morning is an event in itself, with an immediate steep climb on Passo Tre Croci. Keep an eye out (or visit if you like) for the most famous peaks of the Dolomites…Tre Cime Di Lavaredo. Now join the highway for a quick blast across the border to Lienz, lying at the foot of the Grossglockner Mountain Pass - the highest paved road in Austria. After lunch along the river, summit the Grossglockner pass and continue down into the beautiful Austrian Tyrol region. About an hour later, arrive at your hotel outside the charming town of Berchtesgaden.
Overnight Hotel: Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden
Day 15 - Drive 12: Berchtesgaden to Munich via the German Alpine Road
Start your final planned drive by exiting the hotel directly onto the Rossfeld Panorama Strasse. One of our favorite driving roads, this scenic driving loop takes you along the ridgeline of the low mountains at the border of Germany and Austria. Hitler's Eagles Nest is a highly recommended stop directly off of this winding road before heading to the Hangar-7 Redbull Museum on the outskirts of Salzburg, where you can see the exhibition of the historical Flying Red Bulls aircraft fleet and a collection of Formula 1 race cars. Hop onto the German Alpine Road through the Bavarian Alps, a stunning 70 km stretch of sweeping roads and lower mountain passes that cross the border into Austria and back. This will take to you lake Chiemsee. Finally, jump on the autobahn for a high speed cruise to Munich, the bustling heart of Bavaria.
Overnight Hotel: Munich Kempinski
Day 16 - Drive 13: Direct Drive from Munich to Stuttgart via the Autobahn
This is the final leg to complete your impressive Ultimate Grand Tour loop back to Stuttgart. At 2.5 hours, this is an easy direct drive, but that doesn't mean it’s not exciting! Between Munich and Stuttgart the autobahn is largely de-restricted, so (safely) set your new PR and stretch your car's legs! Once you are back in Stuttgart, follow Porsche's instructions on returning your vehicle, and then enjoy the rest of your time in the city and your final hotel night.
Overnight Hotel: Le Meridien Stuttgart
Day 17 - Explore Stuttgart & Departure
Stuttgart has much to explore, including the Porsche and Mercedes museums and factories. Try to soak up as much as you can before departing. Maybe even catch a futbol game at the Mercedes-Benz Arena!
